On 12 November 2025, Austrian employers were honoured in the Aula der Wissenschaften in Vienna for their efforts in promoting family-friendly policies – among them FH Salzburg, which received the award for the fourth time. Claudia Plakolm, Federal Minister for Europe, Integration and Family presented the certificates. Doris Walter, Head of Human Resources & Internationalisation at FH Salzburg, accepted the award together with Cornelia Rieß-Just, Head of Quality Management & Organisational Development.

Certified since 2013: A family-friendly university

Since 2013, FH Salzburg has actively worked to improve the balance between studies, work and family life. The fourth successful re-certification of the “hochschuleundfamilie” certificate recognises the continuous development of family-friendly measures – from flexible working models and digital learning opportunities to cooperation with regional partners.

“At FH Salzburg, we are committed to ensuring that studies, work and family can be successfully combined. As an attractive employer, we offer flexible working hours without core time, remote working options and proactive parental leave management, providing tailored solutions for different life and family phases. We continuously develop these measures to create an even more family-friendly university culture,” emphasises Doris Walter, authorised signatory and Head of Human Resources & Internationalisation at FH Salzburg.

Diversity as a lived value

FH Salzburg also sets a strong example in the field of diversity: The re-certification of the “Diversity Management: ZukunftVIELFALT” certificate by TÜV Austria confirms the university’s commitment to equal opportunities, inclusion and respectful collaboration. Diversity is firmly embedded as a cross-cutting theme in teaching, research and administration.

Initiatives such as “Luis*a am Campus” and the recently adopted Equality and Diversity Plan demonstrate that diversity at FH Salzburg is not just a guiding principle, but a lived reality.

Both certificates are preceded by a comprehensive, participatory audit process.

With these certifications, FH Salzburg underscores its role as a modern, responsible, and attractive university – for students, staff, and partners alike.
